For anyone wondering what we mean by “decolonizing” ourselves, this is it. It’s the effort of undoing centuries of beating our own cultures out of us.
Learning our ancestral languages, cultures, and traditions is an important but very difficult thing for us to be able to do.
This is why I refuse to listen to ANYONE that says I must stop speaking my language around them.

Reasons to let people speak their own fucking language:
1) It’s important culturally to them to be able to do so 2) It works to undo years of white colonial bullshit 3) Maybe you don’t need to be able to understand what someone else is saying when they’re not talking to you so stop being a nosy nelly and leave them alone
Seriously if you’re worried someone is gossiping about you in another language, think about 2 things: 1) why do you think you’re that important to everyone around you, that you think you’re literally the only thing they have to talk about, and 2) what kind of person are you that you assume everyone around you just wants to talk shit about you? Maybe stop being that kind of person then you won’t have to worry.
